A Hofbräuhaus é uma cervejaria alemã com sede em Munique. Foi fundada em 1589, e sua construção salvou as finanças da Baviera. Na época os duques da região importavam cerveja da Baixa Saxônia, e os mesmos estavam falidos. Este fato levou o Duque Willian V construir uma cervejaria própria, que alguns anos mais tarde foi aberta ao público com o nome Hofbräuhaus Am Platzl. Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial toda a estrutura da cervejaria foi destruída em um bombardeio, sendo reconstruída em 1958.
A cerveja produzida na Hofbräuhaus colecionou admiradores desde de o início da sua história, e alguma lendas começaram a surgir. Como essa:
“Em 1632, o exército sueco estava diante dos portões de Munique e exigia uma fortuna para poupar a cidade. O pagamento foi feito em moeda local. Os suecos receberam mil baldes de cerveja da Hofbräuhaus, o equivalente a uns 60 mil litros.”
Outra história que se conta, é que em 1823 a ópera da cidade pegou fogo. Como era inverno a água estava congelada, a solução foi apagar o fogo com a cerveja da Hofbräuhaus.
Hofbräuhaus significa “cervejaria da corte”. Em pouco tempo tornou-se ponto de parada para os aficionados por cerveja de todo o mundo e alguma personalidades ilustres. Como a imperatriz Elizabeth da Áustria, o chefe de estado russo Vladimir Lênin, o político e estadista russo Mikhail Gorbatchov e o compositor austríaco Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Em 1920 a cervejaria foi o local escolhido para o primeiro evento político importante do Partido Nacional Socialista dos Trabalhadores Alemães. Onde Hitler apresentou o programa politico dos 25 pontos.
O cardápio da cervejaria constitui-se de pratos típicos da Baviera, como o lombo de porco, joelho de porco e vários tipos de salsicha. As cervejas são geralmente servidas em copos de 1 litros, também chamado de Mass. E para animar seus frequentadores a musica típica é tocada sem pausas juntamente com danças e outras apresentações da cultura alemã.
A cervejaria também possui um hino composto pelo seu fundador Willian V, que diz:
“In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus, eins, zwei, g’suffa!”
(Em Munique, fica a Hofbräuhaus. Um, dois, nós bebemos de um só trago)

The Hofbräuhaus is a German brewery established in Munich. It was founded in 1589, and its construction saved the finances of Bavaria. At the time the Dukes imported beer in the region of Lower Saxony, and they were broke. This fact has led Duke William V build their own brewery, a few years later opened to the public with the name Hofbräuhaus am Platzl. During World War II the entire structure of the brewery was destroyed in a bombing raid, being rebuilt in 1958.
The beer produced at Hofbräuhaus collected admirers since the beginning of its history, and some legends began to appear. Like this:
“In 1632, the Swedish army was at the gates of Munich and demanded a fortune to save the city. Payment was made in local currency. Swedes received thousand buckets of Hofbräuhaus beer, the equivalent of some 60 billion liters.”
Another story is told, is that in 1823 the opera house caught fire. As it was winter the water was frozen, the solution was to extinguish the fire with the Hofbräuhaus beer.
Hofbräuhaus means “brewery court.” In a short time became a stopping point for fans of beer from around the world and some distinguished personalities. As the Empress Elizabeth of Austria, the Russian head of state Vladimir Lenin, the Russian politician and statesman Mikhail Gorbachev and the Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
